Sonic 3 trailer gives us a sneak peek at Keanu Reeves as Shadow

Sonic the Hedgehog is returning to cinema screens later this year with a third movie. Cyberpunk 2077 fans should be impressed right off the bat, as Sonic 3 will see Idris Elba and Keanu Reeves reuniting.

The official trailer for Sonic the Hedgehog 3 has dropped today, giving us our first proper look at the film. If you've ever played the first level of Sonic Adventure 2, or even the Shadow the Hedgehog videogame, then you will immediately recognise elements, with Shadow escaping a secret lab and looking to take some rage out on the world. However, in a twist, it seems that series' villain, Dr. Robotnik, won't be siding with Shadow in this movie and will instead help Sonic and his friends.

All of the main actors from the previous films will be reprising their roles, including Idris Elba as the voice of Knuckles. Keanu Reeves is stepping in to voice Shadow. We don't hear too many lines of Shadow dialogue, but in the short snippets we do hear, Keanu continues to sound exactly like himself, so if you were expecting a bit more range, I'm not convinced you'll find it in this performance.

Sonic the Hedgehog 3 will hit cinemas on the 20th of December this year.

KitGuru Says: The first two Sonic movies were surprisingly enjoyable, so I'll be looking forward to seeing a third. I am a bit disappointed at the lack of Chaos so far though. Sonic Adventure was my favourite game growing up, so a Chaos and Chaos Emerald-centred storyline would be right up my alley.

KitGuru Games: Predicting the Next Half a Decade of Call of Duty Releases

Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790) famously once said: “The three absolutes in life are death, taxes and a new Call of Duty coming out every single year”. Sure enough, the US founding father has yet to be proven wrong, with Activision and a dozen studios having ensured that come the tail-end of any given year, there will be a new COD ready to release. And so, what can we expect from the franchise later this year? What about 2027, 2028 or even 2030? By looking back at the past two decades of Call of Duty games, their trends, progression and regression, I believe I can predict the next 5 years worth of annual COD entries.
