Intel Core i7-13700K shows up in Geekbench beating the Ryzen 9 5950X

Last week, a leaked benchmark showed the upcoming Core i5-13600K nearing Ryzen 9 5950X levels of performance. Now, a new benchmark entry gives us results for the Core i7-13700K, giving us an early look at it up against AMD's flagship.

The Intel Core i7-13700K Geekbench entry, shared by Benchleaks, shows the CPU was mounted on an ASRock Z690 Steel Legend with 32GB of DDR4-3600 memory. Moreover, it confirms the chip will pack 16 cores (8 P-cores and 8 E-cores) and 24 threads, matching the core configuration of the Core i9-12900K. Still, it should be faster as the operating frequencies show the CPU reached a 5.4GHz clock speed.

Scoring 16,542, the Core i7-13700K rivalled the Ryzen 9 5950X in terms of multi-core performance. However, it's an entirely different beast in single-core workloads, scoring 2,090 points and beating all other chips in the Geekbench 5 ranking. Compared to its predecessor, it's 17% and 10% faster than its predecessor in the multi-core and single-core tests, respectively.

Intel is expected to announce its 13th Gen Core “Raptor Lake” desktop processors in late September during an Innovation event keynote.

KitGuru says: The Core i7-13700K may end up offering better performance than the current Core i9-12900K at a cheaper price.
