Gamescom’s Opening Night Live to feature COD; Dune and much more

Gamescom is set to go live later this month, with multiple different publishers confirming that they will be present at the convention. Following the likes of Microsoft, Goeff Keighley has now detailed some of what fans can expect from the headlining ‘Gamescom Opening Night Live’ showcase.

As he does each year, Keighley has begun to tease the upcoming Opening Night Live showcase, saying “Some of the games confirmed for @gamescom Opening Night Live next Tuesday include:

  • Call of Duty: Black Ops 6
  • Monster Hunter Wilds
  • MARVEL Rivals
  • Dune Awakening
  • Indiana Jones and the Great Circle
  • Sid Meier's Civilization VII”

Beyond this, Keighley also confirmed that there will be brand new game announcements during the showcase, as well as a pre-show hosted by Kyle Bosman.

In total, more than 3 dozen games have been confirmed to be present throughout Gamescom across the many different showcases, including but not limited to:

  • Assassin's Creed Shadows
  • Starfield Shattered Space
  • Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2
  • Avowed
  • Batman: Arkham Shadow
  • S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl
  • Little Nightmares 3
  • Splitgate 2
  • Dragon Ball: Sparking! ZERO
  • New game From SEGA

Gamescom can be a hit-or-miss event, but this year seems to feature quite a lot to get excited for. Additionally, with unannounced games said to also be present at the showcase, Gamescom 2024 could wind up being the best event of the year.

We will have to wait and see how it compares to Summer Game Fest from a couple months ago. Gamescom ONL will go live on 20th of August at 7PM UK Time.

KitGuru Games: Predicting the Next Half a Decade of Call of Duty Releases

Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790) famously once said: “The three absolutes in life are death, taxes and a new Call of Duty coming out every single year”. Sure enough, the US founding father has yet to be proven wrong, with Activision and a dozen studios having ensured that come the tail-end of any given year, there will be a new COD ready to release. And so, what can we expect from the franchise later this year? What about 2027, 2028 or even 2030? By looking back at the past two decades of Call of Duty games, their trends, progression and regression, I believe I can predict the next 5 years worth of annual COD entries.
