Alan Wake 2 sees strong sales and Control surpasses 4 million copies sold

Alan Wake 2 launched in October and Remedy has now given us an update on how the game is doing. Ahead of the first of two story DLCs planned, Remedy has sold around 1.3 million copies, a figure that the studio is happy with.

In a statement on the milestone, Remedy's CEO, Tero Virtala, said: “We are happy with the start of Alan Wake 2’s sales. The price point has also remained at a high level, and the game has already recouped a significant part of the development and marketing expenses. We will continue to develop the game to serve existing fans and attract new players and expect the game to continue selling well.”

No doubt part of that sales boost will come via the release of expansions, of which two are already planned. These expansions will further expand Remedy's multiverse, with connections to previous games like Control.

So far, the game does appear to be seeing stronger sales than Control, shipping more copies in two months than Control did in four months. If Remedy can keep up the pace for Alan Wake 2 sales, it may surpass Control's 4 million copies milestone in far less time.

KitGuru Says: Alan Wake 2 really is an excellent game but it isn't as action-heavy as something like Control, which may throw some off if your first Remedy game was Quantum Break or Control and not the original Alan Wake. If you are into the dark thriller atmosphere and a gritty detective story, then it is a game you absolutely should play.
