Valorant tipped to launch on Xbox Series X/S and PS5 this week

Riot Games has been working away on Valorant for a couple of years now, securing a top spot as one of the most-played competitive shooters. Soon, millions of console players will be able to access the game for the first time, as the Xbox Series X/S and PS5 version of the game is reportedly ready to drop.

According to Spanish leaker, eXtas1s, Valorant is going to launch on console on the 26th of July. This same leaker also claimed that Call of Duty will come to Game Pass this week.

Valorant has been in beta testing on console platforms for a little while now, so quite a few have already had the opportunity to play this new version of the game.

It is unclear if the console and PC versions of Valorant will get future content updates at the same time, or if there will be some kind of staggering in place. There won't be any crossplay between the console and PC versions due to concerns around unfair competition with mouse and keyboard players up against those armed with a gamepad, which doesn't offer the same level of swift, precise control as a mouse.

KitGuru Says: Valorant has become hugely popular in recent years so it will be interesting to see if Riot can match its PC success on console with this release. So far, the company has not confirmed this rumoured launch date for the game, but if it is accurate, then we will learn more in just a few days time.

KitGuru Games: Predicting the Next Half a Decade of Call of Duty Releases

Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790) famously once said: “The three absolutes in life are death, taxes and a new Call of Duty coming out every single year”. Sure enough, the US founding father has yet to be proven wrong, with Activision and a dozen studios having ensured that come the tail-end of any given year, there will be a new COD ready to release. And so, what can we expect from the franchise later this year? What about 2027, 2028 or even 2030? By looking back at the past two decades of Call of Duty games, their trends, progression and regression, I believe I can predict the next 5 years worth of annual COD entries.
