The First Descendant surpasses 10 million players in one week

The First Descendant may have launched to mixed reviews, but the game has still managed to find a sizeable player base. According to the developers, the game has already surpassed 10 million players, just one week on from launch.

The First Descendant, published by Nexon, has surpassed 10 million players in the seven days following release, according to the team behind the game.

The First Descendant is a new looter shooter, built with Unreal Engine 5, offering incredible visuals, along with gameplay elements inspired by hit games like Warframe and Destiny. The game actually had some controversy due to some in-game icons being very similar to those found in Destiny, but the development team is already working on replacing these icons to avoid further issues.

While the game has garnered a lot of players, it also sits at a mixed overall rating on Steam, with many pointing out the game's weak campaign and microtransactions as issues, while the actual gameplay seems to be garnering praise.

KitGuru Says: As the core gameplay seems to be resonating with players, I think it is likely that eventually, user reviews will shift to positive, just as long as the developers can improve on story elements and introduce new content on a regular cadence.

KitGuru Games: Predicting the Next Half a Decade of Call of Duty Releases

Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790) famously once said: “The three absolutes in life are death, taxes and a new Call of Duty coming out every single year”. Sure enough, the US founding father has yet to be proven wrong, with Activision and a dozen studios having ensured that come the tail-end of any given year, there will be a new COD ready to release. And so, what can we expect from the franchise later this year? What about 2027, 2028 or even 2030? By looking back at the past two decades of Call of Duty games, their trends, progression and regression, I believe I can predict the next 5 years worth of annual COD entries.
