Dead Island 2 is finally coming to Steam

After spending many years in development hell, Dead Island 2 finally released last year to a surprisingly positive reception. Unfortunately, for some, the game was not made available on Steam, instead being a timed Epic Games Store exclusive. Finally however, Dead Island 2 is set to drop onto Steam exactly one year from its initial launch.

Making the announcement on Twitter, the official Dead Island 2 account revealed that “Dead Island 2 is coming to Steam April 22nd! To amp up the excitement, dive into the zompocalypse in Dead Island: Riptide, free for 2 epic days.”

It is worth noting that Riptide’s offering is not a trial, but as long as you add the game to your library in time, it will be free to keep forever. A welcome surprise indeed – even if the game is over a decade old now.

Of course, the headlining announcement is the fact that Dead Island 2 will soon be coming to Steam after spending a year exclusively on the Epic Games Store.

That said, it is currently unknown whether the Steam version will come packaged with the game’s previously released (and yet-to-be-released) expansions, or if that will be a separate purchase. Regardless, it is exciting to see Dead Island 2 finally coming to Steam.
