Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3 ‘already playable’

It has been well over a year since the successful launch of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, the second part in the Final Fantasy 7 Remake trilogy. It sounds like Part 3 might be with us sooner than we expected, as a good chunk of the game content is already playable.

During a recent interview with Automaton, director, Naoki Hamaguchi, confirmed that development on Part 3 of the Final Fantasy 7 Remake trilogy is going “really well”, adding that “a lot of the content is already playable”. Here is the full quote:

“Development is going extremely well, and the game is shaping up nicely. A lot of the content is already playable, and the game’s direction and form are firmly set in place. Right now, the team is united around refining everything.”

This news shouldn't be too surprising for those who have been following along with reports of the game's progress over the past year. Back in April, we learned that the voice actor for the English language version of Cloud Strife has already been recording voice lines. This is a good sign that the script is finalised, with no further changes planned. As a result, the developers are free to work on the game, without worrying about changes in content or direction, something commonly known as ‘feature creep' in game development.

There is still no release date for Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3, nor do we know the game's official title. However, based on everything we've heard so far, it seems that we may get our first look at it next year, with a release in 2027.
