Star Wars strategy game still on the way following layoffs at EA studios

EA announced a wave of layoffs and game cancellations last week. Respawn Entertainment was one of the studios impacted, with its first-person Star Wars shooter scrapped. With EA seemingly wanting to ditch licensed games once again, questions have arose about several other projects within EA, including an upcoming Star Wars strategy game. 

Fortunately, it seems that the Star Wars strategy project is still intact for now, with Respawn Entertainment working alongside Bit Reactor on the game.

Respawn partnered with Bit Reactor back in 2022 for this untitled Star Wars strategy game. Bit Reactor has confirmed that it has been unaffected by the recent moves at EA:

Unfortunately, there is still no timeline on when we might see this game formally announced, or see any gameplay. However, the Star Wars license is one that lends itself very well to the idea of a big strategy game, so we'll have our fingers crossed and eyes peeled for more information in the months ahead.
