Dunkey’s publishing company Big Mode has announced its first game

We've seen a few big streamers and content creators go on to work directly in games. One of the most popular gaming YouTube channels, Dunkey, set up his own publisher back in 2022, called Big Mode, with plans to shine a light on and bring hidden-gem indie games to market. Now, almost 18 months later, Big Mode's first game has been announced.

Dunkey isn't involved directly in game development. However, Big Mode does offer support, funding, PR & community management, merchandising and help with porting, QA and localisation for projects under its umbrella. Big Mode's first published game has now been announced – Animal Well, a Metroidvania platformer for PC, PS5 and Nintendo Switch.

Animal Well is developed by indie studio, Shared Memory, a company started by a lone developer, Billy Basso, who has been working on this game for seven years already. The game was first announced last year, with a trailer debuting in 2023 as part of the Nintendo Indie World Showcase. A new release date trailer has now been shared via the Big Mode YouTube channel, which you can see further up in this post.

The game will officially release on the 9th of May. Currently, there are no confirmed plans for an Xbox console release.

KitGuru Says: At first glance, Animal Well seems like a very fitting first game for Dunkey's publishing company. Have any of you had your eye on this game since its announcement last year?

KitGuru Games: Predicting the Next Half a Decade of Call of Duty Releases

Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790) famously once said: “The three absolutes in life are death, taxes and a new Call of Duty coming out every single year”. Sure enough, the US founding father has yet to be proven wrong, with Activision and a dozen studios having ensured that come the tail-end of any given year, there will be a new COD ready to release. And so, what can we expect from the franchise later this year? What about 2027, 2028 or even 2030? By looking back at the past two decades of Call of Duty games, their trends, progression and regression, I believe I can predict the next 5 years worth of annual COD entries.
