Intel Core i7-14700HX to have 20 cores and 5.4GHz boost clock speed

We've got additional information on the upcoming Intel Core i7-14700HX thanks to a new benchmark entry. Besides getting its exact core and thread count, we have learned that the new Raptor Lake Refresh mobile chip will boost up to 5.4GHz.

According to the Geekbench 6 entry shared by @Benchleaks, the upcoming mobile Core i7-14700HX processor packs 20 cores and 28 threads, the same core configuration as the Core i7-14700K. This peculiar core setup isn't new to the Intel mobile platform, but it's an improvement over its predecessor, the i7-13700HX CPU. The system in the entry was an Acer Nitro 17 laptop with 32GB of memory.

The Geekbench entry gives us some insight into the capabilities of the forthcoming i7-14700HX CPU, with a maximum clock speed of 5,287MHz. However, additional data from this test indicates that the clock frequency reached even higher levels, peaking at 5462MHz, putting it into the 5.4–5.5GHz range. Due to the higher core count, the new CPU surpasses the previous 13700HX generation model in multicore by 18.7%. The single-core boost also results in a 12% increase in score.

As for Intel's release plans, no official date for the 14th Gen Core-HX series has been announced yet.
