Dead Cells development finally comes to an end with Update 35

Motion Twin, the developers behind the popular rogue-lite Metroidvania game Dead Cells, have announced that the upcoming Update 35 will be the last major content release for the game. The update titled ‘The End Is Near' is still in the alpha stage, but the team is working hard to get it ready for release as soon as possible.

Over seven years, Dead Cells has received four major DLC expansions, a mobile release, and 35 title updates. However, the current developer, Evil Empire, has decided to move on to other projects. The studio hinted at “secret projects” in the works, and fans are eagerly awaiting to see more of those.

As per the developer, “avoiding the ‘more of the same' trap and keeping Dead Cells fresh and original has led [them] to this point”. Like with other long-running games, overextending can negatively affect a game as it becomes repetitive and risks diminishing what makes it unique. Motion Twin has assured fans that they will continue to find solutions for long-term bug fixes and quality-of-life concerns after the release of Update 35. The team is also working on their next action-roguelike game, Windblown, announced during last year's Game Awards.

There have been speculations that Evil Empire's Return To Castlevania DLC was a dry run for a full-fledged Castlevania game with Konami. However, what the team has in store for their fans remains to be seen.

KitGuru Games: Predicting the Next Half a Decade of Call of Duty Releases

Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790) famously once said: “The three absolutes in life are death, taxes and a new Call of Duty coming out every single year”. Sure enough, the US founding father has yet to be proven wrong, with Activision and a dozen studios having ensured that come the tail-end of any given year, there will be a new COD ready to release. And so, what can we expect from the franchise later this year? What about 2027, 2028 or even 2030? By looking back at the past two decades of Call of Duty games, their trends, progression and regression, I believe I can predict the next 5 years worth of annual COD entries.
