Razer’s new Blade 14 aims to be the ultimate AMD gaming laptop

This week during E3, Razer announced that it is finally bringing the Razer Blade 14 laptop back after a three-year hiatus. Beyond that, this will also be the first ever Razer laptop to be powered by an AMD processor, in this case, the Ryzen 9 5900HX.

The new Razer Blade 14 pairs a Ryzen 9 5900HX processor with Nvidia graphics, with configuration options up to the RTX 3080. The processor comes with a full 8 cores and 16 threads, as well as boost clock speeds up to 4.6GHz. Speaking on the new Blade 14, Razer Senior VP and GM of Systems Business, Brad Wildes, said: “The new Blade 14 aims to shake up the industry once again by combining Razer’s decade worth of experience in crafting ultra-compact and high-end gaming machines with the power and efficiency of AMD Ryzen Mobile Processors. We are thrilled to bring the ultimate mobile gaming experience to gamers with the Razer Blade 14.”

The new Blade 14 packs some serious hardware with its processor and up to RTX 3080 graphics, but the rest of the laptop is equally impressive. The FreeSync Premium 14-inch display comes in two options – 1080p and 144Hz or 1440p and 165Hz, delivering high refresh rate gaming on the go. The display also supports 100% of the sRGB colour gamut on the 1080p panel and 100% of the DCI-P3 gamut on the 1440p panel.

The Blade 14 features an all-aluminium chassis, precision milled and anodized with a matte black coating. The laptop is incredibly thin, measuring in at 0.66” x 8.66” x 12.59”, making it the world's smallest 14-inch gaming laptop. For cooling, vapour chamber technology is used alongside two ultra low-profile fans with 0.1mm thick blades to transfer and dissipate heat away from critical components.

Other features include a 720p webcam, Razer Chroma per-key RGB lighting, up to 12 hours of battery life, two USB 3.2 Type-C ports with power delivery, two USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A ports, HDMI 2.1 and a headphone jack.

The new Razer Blade 14 starts at £1,799.99 and is available starting this week from the Razer Store.
