FFXIV is finally coming to Xbox next month

For years now, both Microsoft and Square Enix have been promising that the highly successful MMO Final Fantasy XIV would be coming to Xbox consoles at some point in the future. Last year, they finally revealed that the game is planned to launch some time in 2024. After a great deal of waiting, it seems as though Xbox owners will be able to get their hands on the game as early as next month.

As reported by Siliconera, during the 2024 ‘Tokyo Fan Fest’ Final Fantasy XIV director and producer Naoki Yoshida revealed that the long anticipated Xbox version of FFXIV is gearing up to be released, with a beta said to be taking place next month. While no exact date was given, Yoshida stated that the plan is for it to arrive around the 21st of February.

Currently, it is unknown exactly how the Xbox release will work and whether PS5/PC owners will need to repurchase the game in order to play on Xbox. Additionally, Square Enix did not state how current and future expansions will work – and whether the Xbox version will launch with all currently available content.

Regardless of how it ends up working, Final Fantasy XIV is deemed to be one of the best MMOs of all time, and so getting the game in any capacity on Xbox is a welcome move. Hopefully the Xbox release does indeed have parity with the other versions.

KitGuru Games: Predicting the Next Half a Decade of Call of Duty Releases

Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790) famously once said: “The three absolutes in life are death, taxes and a new Call of Duty coming out every single year”. Sure enough, the US founding father has yet to be proven wrong, with Activision and a dozen studios having ensured that come the tail-end of any given year, there will be a new COD ready to release. And so, what can we expect from the franchise later this year? What about 2027, 2028 or even 2030? By looking back at the past two decades of Call of Duty games, their trends, progression and regression, I believe I can predict the next 5 years worth of annual COD entries.
