Overwatch: GENESIS mini-series announced

Despite being a PvP focused multiplayer title, Overwatch has always enticed fans through its many different animated and CG shorts released over the years. The team at Blizzard have now announced Overwatch: GENESIS – a three-part mini series premiering later this week.

Releasing a teaser trailer for the series, Overwatch: GENESIS seems to be going to the chronological roots of the franchise, showing fans the world of Overwatch prior to the outbreak of war, saying “It was a technological golden age. Until it wasn’t.”

Part 1 of this three-part mini series is titled ‘Dawn’ and will premiere on the 6th of July at 9am PT (5pm UK time) with a runtime of a little over 5 minutes. We do not yet know when episodes 2 and 3 will air.

The world of Overwatch has always interested fans, which is why the announcement that the game’s campaign mode was being cancelled had been met with such disappointment. While not a replacement for this mode, it is exciting to see that we will learn more of the lore and history of Overwatch.
