Starbreeze outlines plans for full year of Payday 3 DLC

Payday 3 is coming out in just over a week and Starbreeze is already teasing its post-launch content plans. Like Payday 2, there will be plenty of DLC for Payday 3 but that won't be all. In fact, the developers are already planning a big engine change that will see the game move to Unreal Engine 5.

Payday 3 – Year 1 will include four major DLCs – Syntax Error, Boys in Blue, The Land of the Free and finally, Fear & Greed. The first DLC will arrive in Winter 2023, followed by a new DLC every three months or so right up to Fall 2024, at which point we should start hearing about plans for a second year of content updates.

Mixed in with these DLCs will be a number of free updates, including seasonal events, new playable characters, new enemy weapons, additional cosmetics, quality-of-life updates based on user feedback and finally, a shift over to Unreal Engine 5, which should boost the fidelity of the game as well.

Payday 3 officially launches on the 21st of September for PC, Xbox and PlayStation. The game will also be available day-one through Game Pass.

KitGuru Games: Predicting the Next Half a Decade of Call of Duty Releases

Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790) famously once said: “The three absolutes in life are death, taxes and a new Call of Duty coming out every single year”. Sure enough, the US founding father has yet to be proven wrong, with Activision and a dozen studios having ensured that come the tail-end of any given year, there will be a new COD ready to release. And so, what can we expect from the franchise later this year? What about 2027, 2028 or even 2030? By looking back at the past two decades of Call of Duty games, their trends, progression and regression, I believe I can predict the next 5 years worth of annual COD entries.
