Overwatch 2’s 6th Season announced bringing new hero and more

Overwatch 2 has received quite a bit of criticism in recent months due to the free-to-play PvP title reducing the scope of its updates, in particular when it comes to the long-promised PvE experiences. That said, the team at Blizzard have continued to add a decent amount of new content with each update – having now officially announced Season 6 ‘Invasion’ which brings with it a new hero, Invasion Story Missions and more.

Season 6 of Overwatch 2 will go live on the 10th of August and will bring with it a bunch of new content – some paid and some free. As always, the new season will be accompanied by a brand new Battle Pass, allowing you to get skins, emotes and more – with this Season’s fancy Mythic skin going to the support hero Ana.

The other main form of paid content comes in the Invasion story missions. Costing $15 for 3 co-op missions, this mode will include “massive maps with complex objectives, and an in-depth storyline that will guide you along the way.“

Beyond this, Season 6 introduces a new Hero in the form of Illari – a solar powered support character which looks like a lot of fun. A new core game mode will also be added. Known as Flashpoint, players will need to possess randomised control points, requiring entirely new strategies. This new mode will be playable across the two added maps: Suravasa and New Junk City.

Other miscellaneous additions with this Season include an Overwatch 2 anniversary event, a ‘Hero Mastery’ challenge and weekly limited-time events.

While perhaps not the massive overhaul that some people were hoping Overwatch 2 would be, the team at Blizzard are continuing to update the game with a bunch of fresh content – hopefully keeping the core player base satiated. We will have to wait and see when Overwatch 2’s 6th Season ‘Invasion’ goes live on the 10th of August.

KitGuru Games: Predicting the Next Half a Decade of Call of Duty Releases

Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790) famously once said: “The three absolutes in life are death, taxes and a new Call of Duty coming out every single year”. Sure enough, the US founding father has yet to be proven wrong, with Activision and a dozen studios having ensured that come the tail-end of any given year, there will be a new COD ready to release. And so, what can we expect from the franchise later this year? What about 2027, 2028 or even 2030? By looking back at the past two decades of Call of Duty games, their trends, progression and regression, I believe I can predict the next 5 years worth of annual COD entries.
