Over a dozen Horizon projects have been planned

One of the biggest new PlayStation IPs to have been created during the previous generation was that of Horizon Zero Dawn. With the first game having sold over 20 million copies and its 2022 sequel proving to continue the series’ success, it was safe to assume that another mainline entry was on its way. That said, no one could have expected the sheer number of projects said to be planned out for this burgeoning franchise.

As reported by GamesRadar+, Guerrilla Games’ studio director Jan-Bart van Beek spoke during the recent ‘Develop:Brighton’ talk where he revealed that the studio has many grand plans for the Horizon franchise, saying “We're going to be continuing it for a very long while” and adding that there are currently 16 plans “clicking on” surrounding the series.

Following the conclusion of Horizon Forbidden West’s Burning Shores DLC, the team at Guerrilla Games confirmed that a 3rd entry in the series was on the way. We also know that a multiplayer title set in the world of Horizon is also in the works.

With the Horizon franchise popping out two mainline titles, 2 major expansions and a standalone VR spin-off since 2017, it is safe to say that Guerrilla Games is only just getting started.

KitGuru Games: Predicting the Next Half a Decade of Call of Duty Releases

Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790) famously once said: “The three absolutes in life are death, taxes and a new Call of Duty coming out every single year”. Sure enough, the US founding father has yet to be proven wrong, with Activision and a dozen studios having ensured that come the tail-end of any given year, there will be a new COD ready to release. And so, what can we expect from the franchise later this year? What about 2027, 2028 or even 2030? By looking back at the past two decades of Call of Duty games, their trends, progression and regression, I believe I can predict the next 5 years worth of annual COD entries.
