AMD to finally release new drivers for old-gen GPUs, including RX 6000 graphics cards

After over two months without new graphics drivers for Radeon RX 6000 series and older GPUs, AMD's chief architect of gaming solutions announced a new one will release “within the next two weeks”.

AMD's Frank Azor addressed the driver drought for old-gen GPUs on Twitter, explaining that new drivers are on the way and should release in the next two weeks. However, there will be an update on this prior to the driver becoming available. Azor also says that any delays will also be communicated.

We're working on new @amdradeon drivers for 6000 series and prior gen cards. Aiming to release them within the next 2 weeks. Will provide another update if we run into any delays and as we get closer to posting them. Thank you for your patience

Unfortunately, Azor didn't state why the red team took so long to release a new driver for Radeon RX 6000 series and older GPUs. While the Radeon RX 7900 series received four driver updates since December, the RX 6000 series and older generation GPUs didn't receive any. The release of the Radeon RX 7900 series cards and respective drivers might have played a role here.

Currently, owners of AMD Radeon RX 6000 series and older GPUs can update their graphics drivers up to version 22.11.2.
