Dead Island 2 has gone ‘gold’, release date brought forward

After years of delays and production issues, Dead Island 2 is finally releasing this year. The developers seem to be very confident in the game's state too, as it has gone gold months ahead of schedule, and the release date has been brought forward by one week.

In an announcement today, it was announced that Dead Island 2 will now launch on the 21st of April, instead of April 28th as previously planned.

Coinciding with the release date reveal is the announcement that Dead Island 2 has gone gold. That essentially means that the game is now content-complete and playable from start to finish. The remaining development time will be used to squash bugs polishing up the different versions for console and PC.

Dead Island 2 will take players to California, fighting through zombie hordes in Los Angeles. Like the first game, this one is playable solo, but is primarily designed as a multiplayer co-op experience.
