Sony may kick off Summer game reveals with State of Play this month

We're coming up to June, which typically means we're in for a few weeks of major game announcements. We already know the plan for Summer Game Fest, Gamescom and the Xbox Games Showcase. Now, we have an early tip that the next major PlayStation showcase will be happening soon.

According to games reporter, Jeff Grubb, Sony will kick off this year's summer game announcement festivities with a State of Play showcase. The stream could be happening even earlier than expected, with Grubb pencilling it in for the week of the 25th of May.

Elsewhere, industry insider Shinobi has claimed that he has heard that a number of first-party PlayStation studios are gearing up to show off new titles. We don't have to think too hard about what Sony's big 2023 release will be – as Insomniac's Spider-Man 2 is due out this year.

Given that we've yet to see any of Spider-Man 2 outside of its initial announcement trailer, this will likely be Sony's main focus for its next State of Play, but we expect to see plenty of other games, including a final look at Final Fantasy 16 ahead of its late June release date.

KitGuru Games: Predicting the Next Half a Decade of Call of Duty Releases

Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790) famously once said: “The three absolutes in life are death, taxes and a new Call of Duty coming out every single year”. Sure enough, the US founding father has yet to be proven wrong, with Activision and a dozen studios having ensured that come the tail-end of any given year, there will be a new COD ready to release. And so, what can we expect from the franchise later this year? What about 2027, 2028 or even 2030? By looking back at the past two decades of Call of Duty games, their trends, progression and regression, I believe I can predict the next 5 years worth of annual COD entries.
