Devs apologise for The Lord of the Rings: Gollum

The Lord of the Rings: Gollum officially launched this week to some of the lowest review scores we've seen all year. Now in classic fashion, the apology post has followed, with Daedalic responding to negative feedback.

At this point, The Lord of the Rings: Gollum is the lowest-rated game this year on Metacritic, with an overall score of just 36 for the PS5 version and 41 for the PC version, coming in below the likes of Clive N Wrench, Crimeboss: Rockay City and Redfall.

In its response, Daedalic apologises for the “underwhelming experience” many have had with the game so far. The team says the game “did not meet the expectations we set for ourselves or of our dedicated community”.

Bugs and technical issues will be addressed over time, but at its core, Gollum just doesn't seem to be a very fun game, which calls into question just how much the game can be improved through patches. Interestingly, this won't be Daedelic's only Lord of the Rings project, as it recieved a grant in Germany to help fund another project.
