Hogwarts Legacy surpasses 800K concurrent players on Steam

Hogwarts Legacy got off to an impressive start this week, with the game's Early Access period being played by almost 500,000 concurrent players on Steam. On Friday, following the game's official release, those numbers grew even larger, with Hogwarts Legacy going on to become the second-most played single-player game on Steam.

Hogwarts Legacy's new peak concurrent player count now sits at 807,112 players, losing out to Cyberpunk 2077, which garnered an all-time peak of over 1 million players. It is worth noting that Hogwarts Legacy is the second most played game when referring to strictly single-player titles with no multiplayer component.

If you do count Elden Ring as a single-player game, then Hogwarts Legacy is actually third on the list. Elden Ring peaked with an all-time concurrent player count of over 950,000.

Hogwarts Legacy has also set the Twitch record for most concurrent viewers on a single game.

Hogwarts Legacy is now available on PC, Xbox Series X/S and PS5. The game will also be hitting the last-gen Xbox One and PS4 consoles in April, followed by a Nintendo Switch release in June.

KitGuru Games: Predicting the Next Half a Decade of Call of Duty Releases

Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790) famously once said: “The three absolutes in life are death, taxes and a new Call of Duty coming out every single year”. Sure enough, the US founding father has yet to be proven wrong, with Activision and a dozen studios having ensured that come the tail-end of any given year, there will be a new COD ready to release. And so, what can we expect from the franchise later this year? What about 2027, 2028 or even 2030? By looking back at the past two decades of Call of Duty games, their trends, progression and regression, I believe I can predict the next 5 years worth of annual COD entries.
