CES 2023: MSI expands its portfolio with new monitors, peripherals, SSDs and more

At CES this week, MSI announced a ton of new products. We've already covered the extensive new laptop range, and now our attention turns to other hardware, including new monitors, SSDs and peripherals from MSI, alongside some less-expected products, including an MSI-branded EV charger.

Starting with what's probably the most interesting of the bunch, we have MSI MEG 491C and 342C, two QD-OLED curved gaming monitors with 0.1ms response times. These two monitors have earned CES 2023 awards for the “Computer Peripherals & Accessories” category, with the latter receiving an additional “Gaming” award. There's also the MSI Modern 271UL 4K monitor, featuring a 10-bit panel, USB-C connectivity with 65W PD, app integration with MSI Display Kit, and the Eye-Q Check eye-care technology. Like the other two, this monitor has also received an award, but it was under the “Home Audio/Video Components & Accessories” category.

On the SSD category, we have the recently announced Spatium M570 PCIe 5.0 NVMe M.2 HS, offering sequential read/write speeds of up to 10GB/s. To prevent it from overheating, the company has equipped it with a custom bronze-coloured aluminium heatsink. This SSD will be available with 1TB, 2TB and 4TB storage options.

Onto the peripherals, MSI introduced a new variant of the Vigor GK71 gaming keyboard with Sonic Blue switches, featuring a 45g clicky keystroke with audible feedback. Then, there's the Clutch GM51 Lightweight Wireless gaming mouse equipped with MSI's patented Diamond Lightgrips and a 26K DPI optical sensor. Lastly, we have the MSI Pen 2, which uses the Microsoft MPP2.6 protocol and supports haptic feedback. In addition, the new touch pen offers pressure and tilt support for a more realistic writing experience and a graphite pen tip so you can use it on both touch and paper surfaces.

At CES 2023, MSI is also introducing a smart Electric Vehicle AC charger. Compliant with the SAE J1772 Type1 and IEC 62196-2 Type 2 standards, the MS-XP01 EV Premium is capable of charging power up to 13.2 KW through a 60A output current. The 7-inch display allows the user to see the charging status, and the IP55 rating lets you use it indoors and outdoors.

KitGuru Games: Predicting the Next Half a Decade of Call of Duty Releases

Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790) famously once said: “The three absolutes in life are death, taxes and a new Call of Duty coming out every single year”. Sure enough, the US founding father has yet to be proven wrong, with Activision and a dozen studios having ensured that come the tail-end of any given year, there will be a new COD ready to release. And so, what can we expect from the franchise later this year? What about 2027, 2028 or even 2030? By looking back at the past two decades of Call of Duty games, their trends, progression and regression, I believe I can predict the next 5 years worth of annual COD entries.
