Tekken 7 sells over 10 million copies

During The 2022 Game Awards, fans of the fighting game Tekken were treated to an exciting new trailer for the upcoming (and so far undated) Tekken 8. In the wake of this gameplay showcase, the team announced that Tekken 7 has officially sold 10 million copies.

Making the announcement on Twitter, Katsuhiro Harada – the director of the Tekken series – revealed that “TEKKEN7 had achieved Over 10 million sales and Recorded Over 54 million copies sales for the series. Thank you for your continued support!”

This makes Tekken 7 by far the best selling entry in the series, with the second-best going to 1998’s Tekken 3. It is interesting to see the sales success of Tekken 7, especially as fan reception towards the game was somewhat middling. That being said, the game has seen great improvements since its launch in 2017 – though graphically it leaves a lot to be desired.

It is therefore exciting to see Tekken 8 development is well underway. What we have seen so far immediately appears more exciting and inspired, and so who knows just how many copies Tekken 8 will sell when it releases. We will have to wait and see.

KitGuru Games: Predicting the Next Half a Decade of Call of Duty Releases

Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790) famously once said: “The three absolutes in life are death, taxes and a new Call of Duty coming out every single year”. Sure enough, the US founding father has yet to be proven wrong, with Activision and a dozen studios having ensured that come the tail-end of any given year, there will be a new COD ready to release. And so, what can we expect from the franchise later this year? What about 2027, 2028 or even 2030? By looking back at the past two decades of Call of Duty games, their trends, progression and regression, I believe I can predict the next 5 years worth of annual COD entries.
