Meta will launch its next VR headset in October

While Meta will continue to support the Quest 2 as its primary gaming VR headset for the foreseeable future, the company is also working on a new pro-level headset codenamed Project Cambria. In a recent podcast, it seems that Meta CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, has confirmed that Cambria will be launching this year. 

We've been hearing rumours about a ‘Quest Pro' for months already. Previously, analysts have predicted that a Pro level headset will launch in Q4, featuring Mini LED displays, a new lens design, AR and VR support and more cameras for body, facial and eye tracking.

Recently on the Joe Rogan podcast Mark Zuckerberg started discussing Meta's near-future VR plans, confirming that a new headset will be launching in October with facial tracking technology to make virtual avatars more realistic.

Given the details given here, it is highly likely that this headset will be the ‘Quest Pro' that Ming-Chi Kuo predicted earlier this year. The headset should come powered by the Qualcomm XR2 chip, and will offer more features over the Quest 2, likely at a higher price tag.
