You can now join Discord voice chats on Xbox without ‘transferring’ from mobile

While Discord support for PS5 is still on the way, Xbox consoles have had access to the voice chat service for a while now. With the latest Xbox Series X/S OS update, Discord calls can now be managed directly on the console itself.

Previously, you would have to link your Xbox and Discord accounts, and then open up Discord on your phone to transfer a call over to your console, which was a clunky experience to say the least. With the latest update, the whole process of accessing Discord on Xbox is much simpler.

You can now join a voice channel directly from your console with the following steps:

  1. Link your Discord and Xbox accounts
  2. On your Xbox dashboard, navigate to the Xbox Guide
  3. Scroll to Parties & chats, and select Discord “Join a voice channel”
  4. Scroll through a list of available Discord servers and voice channels and join one.

Users will also be able to see a preview of their friends who are in a Discord server and voice channel before joining from their console. You'll even be able to benefit from features like noise suppression and Krisp for better noise cancelling.

KitGuru Says: This is a significant update that will make using Discord on Xbox feel like more of a native, built-in experience. Hopefully we'll see the exact same thing with Discord on PlayStation once it arrives next year.

KitGuru Games: Predicting the Next Half a Decade of Call of Duty Releases

Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790) famously once said: “The three absolutes in life are death, taxes and a new Call of Duty coming out every single year”. Sure enough, the US founding father has yet to be proven wrong, with Activision and a dozen studios having ensured that come the tail-end of any given year, there will be a new COD ready to release. And so, what can we expect from the franchise later this year? What about 2027, 2028 or even 2030? By looking back at the past two decades of Call of Duty games, their trends, progression and regression, I believe I can predict the next 5 years worth of annual COD entries.
