Overclocked AMD Ryzen Threadripper Pro 5995WX sets new benchmark record

A new Cinebench R23 multi-core world record has been set by overclocker ‘TSAIK', scoring over 116K points using an overclocked 64C/128T AMD Ryzen Threadripper Pro 5995WX HEDT processor pushed to 5.15GHz.

TSAIK's entry on HWBot shared by HXL details the processor and maximum clock speed. As with most world record benchmark runs, LN2 cooling was used to keep the process cool. The 64 cores clocked as high as 5,150.31MHz at 1.1V. The Threadripper CPU was mounted on an MSI workstation WRX80 motherboard with 128GB of DDR4-3200 Corsair memory (CL14-14-14-32) and a passively cooled Nvidia GeForce GT640.

With a whopping 116,142 points, TSAIK is currently the record holder for the highest Cinebench R23 multi-core score. In second place, we have ‘Splave' with 105,170 points using a Threadripper 3990X. Third place is held by ‘yww Threadripper', which scored 100,496 points with a Threadripper Pro 3995WX.

One thing worth pointing out is the price of this setup. The CPU alone is already quite expensive, easily costing over £5000. However, when adding the workstation motherboard, LN2 cooling, 128GB of DDR4 memory, and a PSU capable of handling all of this, the whole setup can easily come close to £10K.

KitGuru says: Interestingly, there is not an Intel workstation chip in the top ten, which goes to show how well AMD has done in the workstation space over the last few years.
