Free Deathloop update is live now with ‘Extended Ending’

Deathloop was one of PlayStation’s biggest PS5 titles in 2021, offering fun powers in an immersive-sim like environment. Alongside it coming to other platforms, Deathloop has now received a free update adding all sorts of new content – including an extended ending.

After almost exactly a year, Deathloop has left the console exclusive realms of the PS5 and is now available to play on Xbox systems as well as via Game Pass. Alongside the long-awaited multi-platform release, Deathloop has also received a special ‘Goldenloop update’.

One of the biggest additions is the support for cross-play across all of the supported platforms, meaning PlayStation, Xbox and PC. For Xbox and Microsoft store users specifically, purchasing Deathloop on one platform will entitle you to play on the other platform and vice-versa thanks to cross-purchase and cross-saves.

Aside from it coming to more platforms, the Goldenloop update adds a whole host of new content including a new ability named ‘Fugue’ which “is a projectile that slows and confuses your target, briefly rendering them harmless (and tipsy). The Fugue ability also includes four discoverable upgrades.”

A new weapon has also been added in the form of the HALPS Prototype, an “energy-based rifle that fires a continuous laser-like beam, allowing you to rip through your enemies with precision. Fire the beam at a turret or security camera to refract the beam and hit your foes with bank shots.”

Other additions include a new enemy: The Paint-Bomber; four new upgrades for Julianna’s Masquerade ability; 19 new 2-in-1 trinkets for even more potential chaos, and “an extended ending for the game and other surprises.”

Deathloop flew somewhat under the radar when it released last year and so it will be interesting to see how reception is towards the title thanks to this major new update as well as the game’s multi-platform release.

KitGuru Games: Predicting the Next Half a Decade of Call of Duty Releases

Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790) famously once said: “The three absolutes in life are death, taxes and a new Call of Duty coming out every single year”. Sure enough, the US founding father has yet to be proven wrong, with Activision and a dozen studios having ensured that come the tail-end of any given year, there will be a new COD ready to release. And so, what can we expect from the franchise later this year? What about 2027, 2028 or even 2030? By looking back at the past two decades of Call of Duty games, their trends, progression and regression, I believe I can predict the next 5 years worth of annual COD entries.
