Nintendo and Sony will host game announcements today ahead of TGS

Today is shaping up to be a big one for video game news. Not only is Nintendo holding a big Direct showcase this afternoon, but Sony has also announced plans to air the next State of Play stream today.

The day will be kicking off with Nintendo Direct, which goes live at 3PM today. During this stream, we can expect to see more Bayonetta 3, potentially The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker and Twilight Princess ports for the Switch. We should also get a few other surprise announcements for this holiday season and beyond.

Sony will go live with its State of Play stream at 11PM BST, promising reveals and updates for PS5 and PS4 games, as well as PS VR2. Perhaps we will finally get a new trailer for God of War: Ragnarök, which is just a couple of months away from release. It is also rumoured that Sony will be announcing a new IP.

The State of Play stream will be shorter than the Nintendo Direct, coming in at around 20 minutes rather than 40 minutes. In total, we should see ten games during Sony's stream.

KitGuru Games: Predicting the Next Half a Decade of Call of Duty Releases

Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790) famously once said: “The three absolutes in life are death, taxes and a new Call of Duty coming out every single year”. Sure enough, the US founding father has yet to be proven wrong, with Activision and a dozen studios having ensured that come the tail-end of any given year, there will be a new COD ready to release. And so, what can we expect from the franchise later this year? What about 2027, 2028 or even 2030? By looking back at the past two decades of Call of Duty games, their trends, progression and regression, I believe I can predict the next 5 years worth of annual COD entries.
