Valve has “a lot of games in development”

Over the past decade or so we have seen video game developer and publisher Valve move away from making games, instead focusing on other endeavours such as manufacturing video game hardware while prioritising the continued success of their Steam platform. That being said, Valve is not done making games, with the company revealing that “We're not stopping making games at all. Valve has a lot of games in development. We will continue to release games.”

In a recent interview with Japanese magazine Famitsu (and translated by Tweaktown), Greg Coomer, product developer at Valve, revealed that the company is working on a whole host of new games across different franchises, saying “We're not stopping making games at all. Valve has a lot of games in development. We will continue to release games.”

Going into further details, Coomer claimed ”[Game development] is very important to Valve. I don't know the exact numbers, but the percentage of employees involved in game development is high. A lot of people are involved.”

When asked about whether there are more Half-Life games on the way, Coomer responded “The short answer is yes, there's more to say about the Half-Life world. Alyx is a sign that Valve has more to say about the world.”

Finally, though not an official confirmation, Coomer did state that he would “like to make another Portal someday” as that world deserves “further exploration”. Valve was once known primarily as a video game developer, and while the success of Steam and the Steam Deck means that they do not need to develop games to stay successful, it is exciting to see that the team at Valve still want to and intend on making more games.

KitGuru Games: Predicting the Next Half a Decade of Call of Duty Releases

Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790) famously once said: “The three absolutes in life are death, taxes and a new Call of Duty coming out every single year”. Sure enough, the US founding father has yet to be proven wrong, with Activision and a dozen studios having ensured that come the tail-end of any given year, there will be a new COD ready to release. And so, what can we expect from the franchise later this year? What about 2027, 2028 or even 2030? By looking back at the past two decades of Call of Duty games, their trends, progression and regression, I believe I can predict the next 5 years worth of annual COD entries.
