Nvidia RTX 4080 tipped to use 23Gbps GDDR6X memory

While the rumoured specifications of the RTX 4090 seem more or less set in stone, that has not been the case with the RTX 4070 and 4080, both of which appear to have had several revisions already. The RTX 4080 specs were recently updated again, and this time, it looks like Nvidia will be using faster memory. 

Prominent leaker kopite7kimi has been updating the specifications of the RTX 40 series SKUs over the last few months. While the rumoured RTX 4090 and 4070 specifications remain unchanged since the last time we shared, the same can't be said about the RTX 4080.

According to the leaker, the RTX 4080 memory configuration has been changed, now packing 16GB of GDDR6X memory clocked at 23Gbps, a noticeable increase from the 21Gbps speed reported in the past. That would boost memory bandwidth from 676GB/s to 736GB/s. Moreover, the leaker also stated that the total board power of this card is expected to be around 340W, 20W more than the previous rumour. Everything else remains unchanged, including the AD103 GPU with 9728 CUDA cores and the 256-bit memory bus.

The RTX 40 series is still expected to debut in Q4 2022, with the RTX 4090 at the forefront.

KitGuru says: Assuming all these leaks have been accurate, Nvidia has been very busy tweaking the final specs for its next-gen graphics cards. Hopefully we won't have to wait much longer to see them officially announced.
