Radeon RX 6000 refresh GPUs to feature higher power draw and clock frequencies

With the refreshed AMD Radeon RX 6×50 XT cards expected to be announced next week, more rumours about their specifications are starting to appear. Besides the faster memory, the new cards may also come with higher GPU clocks, possibly bringing a more significant performance bump than initially expected.

According to Wccftech, the Radeon RX 6950 XT will come with a 2100 MHz game clock and 2310 MHz boost clock, an increase of 85MHz and 60MHz over the reference clock values of the RX 6900 XT. Moreover, the RX 6750 XT will come with a small clock bump, bringing speeds up to 2495 MHz and 2600 MHz. Lastly, the Radeon RX 6650 XT comes with 2410 MHz and 2635 MHz game and boost clocks, up from the 2359 MHz and 2589 MHz clock speeds of the RX 6600 XT.

The latest rumours also give us more information about power draw for the newly refreshed GPUs. The Radeon RX 6950 XT will come with a 335W TBP, while the Radeon RX 6750XT and the Radeon RX6650XT will feature a 250W and 180W TBP, respectively.

Every rumour and report out there point to a May 10th launch for the Radeon RX 6×50 XT cards, but AMD has not yet made any official announcements. We should find out next week if there is any truth to the rumours.

KitGuru says: Assuming these refreshed GPUs carry the same MSRP as the original models, then you theoretically should be getting more performance at no extra cost, which is usually a win. However, the GPU market is still inflated at the moment, so whether or not these cards will be available at close to MSRP still remains to be seen. Even if launch prices aren't ideal, analysts have been tracking steady price decreases all year, so there is hope that the market will return to normal before the end of this year.
