It takes Two sells 7 million copies in one year

It takes Two was one of the biggest surprise hits of 2021. Developed by Hazelight Studios of A Way Out fame, the indie studio’s latest award-winning co-op title has now sold over 7 million copies in just one year.

Announced by Hazelight Studios on Twitter, the developer said: “Over 7 MILLION sold!! Here’s Cody (@theBaldeDrama) and Cutie ”celebrating” the latest amazing milestone for #ItTakesTwo [seen below].”

As mentioned, It Takes Two is the latest game from indie studio Hazelight, who have so far primarily focused on couch co-op experiences – to great success.

The studio’s previous game – A Way Out – which released in 2018 has managed to sell over 3.5 million copies as of 2021, and so to see It Takes Two doubling this figure in just one year is impressive indeed. Furthermore, as this is a local co-op title, it means that the game has technically been played by at least 14 million people.

It Takes Two won Game of the Year at the 2021 Game Awards and already has a film adaptation confirmed to be on the way. It will be interesting to see what Josef Fares and the team at Hazelight Studios do next, especially in the wake of It Take Two’s massive success.

KitGuru Games: Predicting the Next Half a Decade of Call of Duty Releases

Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790) famously once said: “The three absolutes in life are death, taxes and a new Call of Duty coming out every single year”. Sure enough, the US founding father has yet to be proven wrong, with Activision and a dozen studios having ensured that come the tail-end of any given year, there will be a new COD ready to release. And so, what can we expect from the franchise later this year? What about 2027, 2028 or even 2030? By looking back at the past two decades of Call of Duty games, their trends, progression and regression, I believe I can predict the next 5 years worth of annual COD entries.
