Devolver Digital announces June conference

Though there may not be an E3 this year, Geoff Keighley’s Summer Games Fest seems to be serving as a suitable replacement. With that, Devolver Digital has now announced that they will be partaking in this year’s Summer Game Fest, and it will be hosted by industry veteran Suda51.

In a tongue-in-cheek manner typical of Devolver Digital, the studio released a teaser to their Summer Game Fest event, revealing that the showcase will go live on Thursday the 9th of June at 3PM Pacific Time (11PM UK Time).

As with previous years’ showcases, the Devolver Digital presentation will be continuing the now years-long plot involving mind control, blood, monsters, laughs, game announcements – and most importantly for this year – a giant robot controlled by Industry veteran Suda51 (known best for the No More Heroes series). The plot for this year’s event reads as follows:

“A clueless team of Devolver Digital execs, scrambling to produce a presentation, accidentally trigger a reality-bending, industry-wide event that threatens the very fabric of video game time and space.”

Though the humour might not be for everyone, Devolver has seen great success in the past with these wacky and unconventional conferences. Each year the publisher has managed to up the ante and this year seems no different.

With Suda51 said to be hosting this year, it is safe to assume that he and his team at Grasshopper Manufacture will have something to show at this event. We will have to wait and see.

KitGuru Games: Predicting the Next Half a Decade of Call of Duty Releases

Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790) famously once said: “The three absolutes in life are death, taxes and a new Call of Duty coming out every single year”. Sure enough, the US founding father has yet to be proven wrong, with Activision and a dozen studios having ensured that come the tail-end of any given year, there will be a new COD ready to release. And so, what can we expect from the franchise later this year? What about 2027, 2028 or even 2030? By looking back at the past two decades of Call of Duty games, their trends, progression and regression, I believe I can predict the next 5 years worth of annual COD entries.
