Warzone 2 will reportedly include R6-styled interrogations

Call of Duty shook up its formula with the release of 2020’s standalone free-to-play Warzone mode. Built off of 2019’s Modern Warfare, the game struggled to scale over time with the rapid rate of evolution witnessed in Battle Royale games. Its success however has now spawned the creation of a much more bespoke and crafted sequel – one that will reportedly include Rainbow Six styled interrogations and more.

Industry insider Tom Henderson (via exputer) recently revealed 5 new features set to be coming to Call of Duty: Warzone 2. By far the most interesting of the 5 is the new interrogation feature which is said to be “very similar to the interrogate feature in Rainbow Six Siege” meaning that players will be able to interrogate downed enemies to reveal their teammate’s locations. Fortunately, it will not impact the flow of the game too much, as it is seemingly being treated as a kind of add-on to the execution feature already included in many recent COD games.

The second new feature is the revamp to the armour system. Instead of only using armour plates, Warzone 2 will feature a similar Armour system to fellow BR game Apex Legends, where you can acquire different levels of armour vests, each of which allows you to install an increasing  number of plates.

As exists in many BR titles, Warzone 2 will include a bag system, allowing greater flexibility with the type and amount of different weapons, equipment, ammo and more.

Taking inspiration from their own previous titles, Warzone 2 is said to include Pro Perks. These perks will be obtainable through the looting of strongholds. Speaking of Strongholds, this new addition to Warzone 2 will feature AI-guarded locations which include optional objectives. Completing these will net you new loadouts, killstreaks, and the aforementioned pro perks.

Of course, these details must be taken with a pinch of salt until confirmed by Activision themselves. Still, these features listed all sound like interesting and welcome mechanics. As mentioned, while fun, the original Warzone suffered from a sense of rigidity when it came to the live-service elements of the game. Hopefully all of these new features make for a more dynamic and longer-lasting experience.

KitGuru Games: Predicting the Next Half a Decade of Call of Duty Releases

Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790) famously once said: “The three absolutes in life are death, taxes and a new Call of Duty coming out every single year”. Sure enough, the US founding father has yet to be proven wrong, with Activision and a dozen studios having ensured that come the tail-end of any given year, there will be a new COD ready to release. And so, what can we expect from the franchise later this year? What about 2027, 2028 or even 2030? By looking back at the past two decades of Call of Duty games, their trends, progression and regression, I believe I can predict the next 5 years worth of annual COD entries.
