Codemasters is working with Criterion on the next Need for Speed

EA has been making plenty of headlines this week after officially breaking off its partnership with FIFA and then revealing its upcoming games release schedule during an earnings call. One of the games coming this year is a new Need for Speed game, and it seems that Codemasters will be working on it alongside Criterion.

In a series of tweets this morning, Codemasters, which was acquired by EA in early 2021, announced that its Cheshire, UK based studio will be merging with Criterion Games to work on future Need for Speed titles. Codemasters Cheshire will now be a Criterion studio with two location hubs.

This is something that Codemasters and Criterion have been building towards for a while now. The racing game specialists at Codemasters were keen to work with Criterion on the next Need for Speed and have been closely partnered since.

While Codemasters Cheshire will now be part of Criterion, other Codemasters studios will remain in place, working on various other racing projects, like F1, Dirt and Grid.

KitGuru Games: Predicting the Next Half a Decade of Call of Duty Releases

Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790) famously once said: “The three absolutes in life are death, taxes and a new Call of Duty coming out every single year”. Sure enough, the US founding father has yet to be proven wrong, with Activision and a dozen studios having ensured that come the tail-end of any given year, there will be a new COD ready to release. And so, what can we expect from the franchise later this year? What about 2027, 2028 or even 2030? By looking back at the past two decades of Call of Duty games, their trends, progression and regression, I believe I can predict the next 5 years worth of annual COD entries.
