MultiVersus pre-season extended and Season 1 delayed

MultiVersus has been a pretty big success so far, with early players enjoying the game in its on-going open beta. The game was due to officially leave beta and roll out its first season next week, but unfortunately some last minute issues have forced a delay.

Today, the MultiVersus Twitter account confirmed that Season 1 will no longer go live on the 8th of August and as a result, Morty also won't be introduced as a character until a later date.

While there is no new release date for Season 1 yet, we do know that the pre-season battle pass has been extended and will remain live until the 15th of August. Presumably, the new season will begin shortly after that.

The reason for the delay was not disclosed, but it is somewhat surprising, as MultiVersus is pretty polished as is. While MultiVersus is free to play, you will have to pay to unlock characters permanently, or you'll have to play with characters in the free rotation each week. Each season will also have a premium battle pass, which will cost £8.
