MiHoYo confirms that Genshin Impact for Switch is still happening

Recently we reported that Genshin Impact has made more than $3 Billion on mobile alone since its launch in September 2020. Though the game is also currently available on PC and PlayStation, a Nintendo Switch version was promised long ago. As fans began to worry that the Switch port had been outright cancelled, the team at MiHoYo offered an update on the Switch release.

Over two years ago – long before the release of Genshin Impact – the team at MiHoYo released a short teaser confirming that the game was being developed for the Nintendo Switch. The PC, PS4/5 and even mobile versions have all been released since, and yet there has been no news regarding the Switch version.

Switch-focused site, GoNintendo took matters into their own hands, reaching out to MiHoYo to ask about the Switch version. In response, Xin Yang, the Global PR specialist at MiHoYo released a short statement saying “The Switch version is still in development, and we will release more information as we progress further along.”

While no reason was given for why it is taking so long, the Switch version was promised long after the other versions, meaning that development on the port may have started later than all other systems. Additionally, Genshin Impact is a large game, crippling even the most powerful mobile devices.

The Switch features much older mobile technology and so bringing the open world of Genshin Impact to Switch might be proving difficult. Regardless of the reason, it is good to see the team continuing to work diligently on the Switch port.

KitGuru Games: Predicting the Next Half a Decade of Call of Duty Releases

Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790) famously once said: “The three absolutes in life are death, taxes and a new Call of Duty coming out every single year”. Sure enough, the US founding father has yet to be proven wrong, with Activision and a dozen studios having ensured that come the tail-end of any given year, there will be a new COD ready to release. And so, what can we expect from the franchise later this year? What about 2027, 2028 or even 2030? By looking back at the past two decades of Call of Duty games, their trends, progression and regression, I believe I can predict the next 5 years worth of annual COD entries.
