Snoop Dogg is dropping into Call of Duty

With many video game franchises trying to adopt the highly-successful Fortnite model of crossing over with as many franchises as possible, Call of Duty is one of the few which seems to have some level of comparable success in that aspect. In an interesting move by COD, the iconic rapper Snoop Dogg is being made a playable character.

Making the surprise announcement on the Call of Duty Blog, Activision revealed that Snoop Dogg would be coming to Call of Duty Warzone, Vanguard and even COD Mobile. Speaking on the collaboration, Mr. Dogg said “The D O Double G is back in Call of Duty and this time I’m in the freakin’ game! Excited to be working with the COD team to bring some fly features for you all to enjoy. It’s dope….. y’all can play as me and get these sick items that have Snoop written all over them. Check it out.”

Snoop Dogg will first appear in COD Mobile via a Lucky Draw starting on the 1st of April. He will then be able to be purchased in Warzone and Vanguard on the 19th of April though a new operator bundle. Unlike many of the previous crossovers in Call of Duty – which saw pre-existing game models altered to suit the crossover, Snoop will be his own operator, meaning he should have a highly detailed and bespoke character model which actually looks like the man himself. The screenshots released so far seem to corroborate this.

This isn’t the first time Call of Duty and Snoop Dogg have worked together. Back with Call of Duty: Ghosts, Snoop lent his voice to one of the many celebrity voice over packs. Him now fully being in the game is therefore somewhat more exciting than the many crossovers which are blatantly used purely as advertising.

KitGuru Games: Predicting the Next Half a Decade of Call of Duty Releases

Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790) famously once said: “The three absolutes in life are death, taxes and a new Call of Duty coming out every single year”. Sure enough, the US founding father has yet to be proven wrong, with Activision and a dozen studios having ensured that come the tail-end of any given year, there will be a new COD ready to release. And so, what can we expect from the franchise later this year? What about 2027, 2028 or even 2030? By looking back at the past two decades of Call of Duty games, their trends, progression and regression, I believe I can predict the next 5 years worth of annual COD entries.
