AMD rumoured to be working on ‘RX 6000S’ GPU refresh

Recent reports have suggested that we may see a Radeon RX 6000 series refresh using the TSMC N6 node. According to reports, this won't impact desktop GPUs, and will instead focus on mobile GPUs, with a new series called ‘Radeon RX 6000S'. 

As reported by VideoCardz, not all Radeon RX 6000M GPUs will be refreshed, which makes sense since the RX 6500M and RX 6300M have not yet been released. It's unclear if the refreshed mobile GPUs will also use TSMC's N6 node.

If it indeed uses TSMC's smaller process node, we can expect improved power efficiency and higher clock speeds thanks to the 18% higher logic density over the N7 node. It's also worth noting that migrating from N7 to N6 should be relatively easy, as the latter is compatible with the former, making it much easier for manufacturers to migrate to the latest node.

With AMD's CES 2022 keynote coming in less than a month (January 4th), there's a chance we learn more about these GPUs from the company itself soon.
