Respawn is working on three new Star Wars games – including Fallen Order 2

Following on from the success of Respawn’s first Star Wars game, it was expected that we would eventually see a sequel to Fallen Order. As it turns out, a new Star Wars Jedi game isn’t the only thing Respawn is cooking up, as the studio also has two other projects planned – an FPS game and a strategy game.

In an announcement today, EA revealed that Respawn is working on three new Star Wars projects. The first is a sequel to Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, meanwhile Respawn’s Medal of Honor and LucasArts veteran, Peter Hirschmann, is leading a second team working on a first-person shooter. Interestingly, Hirschmann also previously worked on the original Battlefront games, but at this time there is no indication that Respawn’s Star Wars shooter will carry the Battlefront branding.

Finally, Respawn is also working with Bit Reactor, a new studio formed by veterans from Firaxis Games. Together, the two teams will be working on a brand new strategy game set in the Star Wars universe. Speaking on the new Star Wars titles in development, Respawn co-founder, Vince Zampella, said: “We are huge fans of Star Wars here at Respawn and we’re thrilled to work with Lucasfilm Games on new titles that we have wanted to make for years.”

This announcement comes at an interesting time as EA’s exclusivity deal with Disney is coming to an end, opening the Star Wars license up once again. We already know that a few other major studios have begun working on projects, including Ubisoft, Quantic Dream and others.

KitGuru Games: Predicting the Next Half a Decade of Call of Duty Releases

Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790) famously once said: “The three absolutes in life are death, taxes and a new Call of Duty coming out every single year”. Sure enough, the US founding father has yet to be proven wrong, with Activision and a dozen studios having ensured that come the tail-end of any given year, there will be a new COD ready to release. And so, what can we expect from the franchise later this year? What about 2027, 2028 or even 2030? By looking back at the past two decades of Call of Duty games, their trends, progression and regression, I believe I can predict the next 5 years worth of annual COD entries.
