The Quarry is a spiritual successor to Until Dawn releasing in June

Yesterday, Supermassive Games officially announced The Quarry, promising to reveal a full trailer and more details today. As it turns out, this game is a spiritual successor to Until Dawn. However, unlike Until Dawn, The Quarry will not be a platform exclusive, and will release across Xbox, PlayStation and PC.

The Quarry is stars a cast of teenagers as they try to survive the final night of summer camp. Just like in Until Dawn, each of these main characters can live or die depending on the player's choices. The cast is also made up of Hollywood actors, so expect to see some familiar faces, like David Arquette from the Scream films, Miles Robbins from 2018's Halloween, Lance Henriksen from Aliens, Ted Raimi from Evil Dead and more.

Speaking with IGN, The Quarry director, Will Byles, confirmed that each character has around ten to twelve potential deaths throughout the game, and the branching story means a huge number of endings for each character. With that in mind, the game is built to deliver multiple meaningful playthroughs.

Unlike Until Dawn, The Quarry will have co-op gameplay, both locally and online. In local co-op, Player 2 will take on the role of a counsellor in-game, while online co-op allows more players to join and vote on each decision.

We won't have to wait very long to get our hands on this game for ourselves. The Quarry is set to release for PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4 and PS5 on the 10th of June.

KitGuru Says: Supermassive did a great job keeping this game under wraps right up until just a few months away from launch. The inclusion of co-op seems excellent too. What do you all think of The Quarry so far? Will you be picking this up when it comes out?
