Alan Wake Remastered to use Control engine and ray-tracing effects

Over the weekend, Alan Wake Remastered leaked ahead of a reveal planned for later this week. Now, we have some new details about the remaster, with sources saying that the new version will use a new engine.

According to sources speaking with Nintendo Pal, Alan Wake Remastered is going to use the Northlight Engine, the same in-house engine used for Control, but the similarities don't end there. Like Control, Alan Wake Remastered will also make use of ray-tracing effects, with ray-traced reflections being present on PC, Xbox Series X and PS5. It is unclear if other effects will be used, such as ray-traced shadows.

As you would expect, Alan Wake Remastered will jump from 30FPS on the original Xbox 360 version to 60FPS. Players will also benefit from higher resolutions and quality of life changes.

According to previous retail leaks, Alan Wake Remastered will be launching on the 5th of October, although Remedy has yet to announce this officially.

KitGuru Games: Predicting the Next Half a Decade of Call of Duty Releases

Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790) famously once said: “The three absolutes in life are death, taxes and a new Call of Duty coming out every single year”. Sure enough, the US founding father has yet to be proven wrong, with Activision and a dozen studios having ensured that come the tail-end of any given year, there will be a new COD ready to release. And so, what can we expect from the franchise later this year? What about 2027, 2028 or even 2030? By looking back at the past two decades of Call of Duty games, their trends, progression and regression, I believe I can predict the next 5 years worth of annual COD entries.
