Journey to the Savage Planet developers form new studio

Earlier this year, Typhoon Studios was shut down as part of Google's effort to pivot Stadia away from game development and publishing. Now, the co-founders behind the studio have formed a new company, and they've also been able to get back the IP rights to their first game, Journey to the Savage Planet.

Typhoon co-founders, Alex Hutchinson and Reid Schneider, have now formed Raccoon Logic. The team already includes several former members of the Journey to the Savage Planet team, as well as industry veterans that have worked on titles like Far Cry, Assassin's Creed and the Batman: Arkham games.

As part of the announcement for the new studio, Schneider confirmed that they retained the rights to Journey to the Savage Planet, saying: “We’re super excited to continue the work we started at Typhoon Studios, and build upon the Journey to the Savage Planet franchise in the future.”

Tencent has already invested in Raccoon Logic, which will enable the studio to start working on its first major project.

KitGuru Games: Predicting the Next Half a Decade of Call of Duty Releases

Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790) famously once said: “The three absolutes in life are death, taxes and a new Call of Duty coming out every single year”. Sure enough, the US founding father has yet to be proven wrong, with Activision and a dozen studios having ensured that come the tail-end of any given year, there will be a new COD ready to release. And so, what can we expect from the franchise later this year? What about 2027, 2028 or even 2030? By looking back at the past two decades of Call of Duty games, their trends, progression and regression, I believe I can predict the next 5 years worth of annual COD entries.
