Logitech has officially unveiled the next generation of its iconic productivity mouse, the MX Master 4. The new model, aimed at creative professionals and developers, builds on the success of its predecessors with two major new features: a built-in haptic engine for tactile feedback and a new software overlay called the “Actions Ring”.
The headline hardware upgrade is the addition of a haptic feedback system. The mouse can now deliver subtle vibrations and sensations to correspond with on-screen actions, such as scrolling through a video timeline, navigating spreadsheets, or snapping objects in design software.
On the software side, the new “Actions Ring” is a significant addition to the Logi Options+ suite. It's a customisable on-screen radial menu that gives users quick, context-aware access to app-specific shortcuts anywhere on their display. Logitech claims this can dramatically speed up workflows in applications like Photoshop and Excel by reducing repetitive mouse movements.
The new mouse also features some hardware refinements. It retains the 8,000 DPI Darkfield sensor and the fast MagSpeed scroll wheel, while also introducing quieter clicks, which are reported to be 90% quieter than those of the previous generation. Connectivity has also been improved with an improved wireless signal and a new USB-C dongle. However, Logitech notes that a USB-C charging cable is not included in the box.
There will be three versions of the MX Master 4: standard, MX Master 4 for Mac, and MX Master 4 for Business. The standard model is available in graphite and grey globally, as well as black in North America and Europe. The Mac variant is available in light grey and black. As for the Business model, this one only comes in graphite. All models are priced at $119.99/€129.99, and each purchase includes a one-month subscription to Adobe Creative Cloud (standard and Mac variants only).
