The Initiative is working on a Perfect Dark reboot, announcement trailer released

There were plenty of rumours surrounding what Microsoft would show at The Game Awards last night. Xbox PR head, Aaron Greenberg tempered expectations earlier in the week, telling fans not to expect anything too huge, but as it turns out, the Xbox team did have one huge reveal. Last night, Xbox studio, The Initiative, finally revealed its first game – Perfect Dark.

The Initiative has been staffing up and working hard since 2018. Their project has been a secret since then, but now the veil has lifted – we are indeed getting a Perfect Dark reboot.

The official trailer gives us a small look at what to expect, but it is cinematic, so we still don't know much about gameplay. What we do know is that Perfect Dark is described as an ‘eco sci-fi' game with first person shooting. It isn't billed as an FPS title though, so expect stealth elements, spy gadgets and other mechanics.

Perfect Dark is currently in development and is likely still a few years away from release. When it does arrive, it will be a PC and Xbox Series X/S exclusive.

KitGuru Says: As one of the few people that actually enjoyed Perfect Dark Zero, I'm looking forward to the return of this IP. Hopefully we'll see a bit more next year as development continues.

KitGuru Games: Predicting the Next Half a Decade of Call of Duty Releases

Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790) famously once said: “The three absolutes in life are death, taxes and a new Call of Duty coming out every single year”. Sure enough, the US founding father has yet to be proven wrong, with Activision and a dozen studios having ensured that come the tail-end of any given year, there will be a new COD ready to release. And so, what can we expect from the franchise later this year? What about 2027, 2028 or even 2030? By looking back at the past two decades of Call of Duty games, their trends, progression and regression, I believe I can predict the next 5 years worth of annual COD entries.
