Xbox Series X and Series S get first OS update this week

The Xbox Series X and Series S consoles are getting their first software updates today. In the first OS upgrade, Microsoft is bringing new features to the dashboard, including new dynamic backgrounds.

One of the biggest additions to the new dashboard is dynamic backgrounds. With the November update, Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S owners will get a new set of six exclusive dynamic backgrounds. In future updates, Microsoft will add more styles, colours and designs to keep things fresh.

Aside from dynamic backgrounds, this update also brings an ‘Auto HDR' tag to Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S. This will let you know when Auto HDR is active for games that don't support HDR 10 or Dolby Vision. This tag will pop up in the corner when you launch a game, similarly to the Quick Resume tag.

Unfortunately, those are all the details we have for now, but there will undoubtedly be some stability and performance improvements too, based on feedback from early adopters of the new console.

KitGuru Says: Have any of you picked up one of the new Xbox consoles since launch? Is there anything you would like to see Microsoft add or change in a future update?

KitGuru Games: Predicting the Next Half a Decade of Call of Duty Releases

Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790) famously once said: “The three absolutes in life are death, taxes and a new Call of Duty coming out every single year”. Sure enough, the US founding father has yet to be proven wrong, with Activision and a dozen studios having ensured that come the tail-end of any given year, there will be a new COD ready to release. And so, what can we expect from the franchise later this year? What about 2027, 2028 or even 2030? By looking back at the past two decades of Call of Duty games, their trends, progression and regression, I believe I can predict the next 5 years worth of annual COD entries.
