Hades 2 Patch 1 Preview changes the game’s ending, but only slightly

Hot on the heels of the successful 1.0 launch of Hades II, developer Supergiant Games has already rolled out the first preview patch on Steam. The focus of this patch seems to be refining the game's “true ending” experience based on early player feedback, but it also includes bug fixes and balance adjustments.

While the core game received widespread acclaim, some players felt the ultimate conclusion didn't quite hit the mark. Supergiant appears to agree, using this first post-launch update to add more narrative weight to Melinoë's final objective. The patch notes detail the addition of more events featuring key characters both before and after the final encounter, along with revisions to parts of the closing sequence itself before the credits roll.

However, there's one change that might raise a few eyebrows: the number of successful runs required actually to see the true ending has been increased (not specified). While this gives players more opportunities to experience the new events leading up to the ending, it risks feeling like unnecessary padding in a game that already demands a significant time investment to reach its conclusion.

On a more positive note, the update introduces a new cauldron incantation that allows players to replay past story scenes. This is a brilliant addition, meaning players won't need to start a new save file to see the updated ending sequences. Other welcome changes include speeding up the progression of several character-related prophecies and reducing the Spirit Point cost for decorations in the Crossroads.

Beyond the narrative tweaks, the patch includes the usual assortment of bug fixes and balance adjustments. Note that this patch is a preview and might change between its current state and what actually gets to the release branch. For detailed patch notes and instructions on how to install the preview, check Supergiant Games' post on Steam.

KitGuru Games: Predicting the Next Half a Decade of Call of Duty Releases

Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790) famously once said: “The three absolutes in life are death, taxes and a new Call of Duty coming out every single year”. Sure enough, the US founding father has yet to be proven wrong, with Activision and a dozen studios having ensured that come the tail-end of any given year, there will be a new COD ready to release. And so, what can we expect from the franchise later this year? What about 2027, 2028 or even 2030? By looking back at the past two decades of Call of Duty games, their trends, progression and regression, I believe I can predict the next 5 years worth of annual COD entries.
