Ubisoft acknowledges criticism over Assassin’s Creed Valhalla ‘gameplay’ trailer

Last night during Inside Xbox, the big trailer that everyone was waiting to see was undoubtedly the gameplay showcase for Assassin's Creed Valhalla. Unfortunately, what we got can't really be described as gameplay, something that Ubisoft is responding to criticism over.

The ‘First Look Gameplay Trailer' is uploaded to both the Xbox and Ubisoft YouTube channels, each with a number of dislikes and comments pointing out that it is an in-game footage trailer, rather than a gameplay one.

Speaking about the trailer, the game's creative director, Ashraf Ismail, noted that fans “rightfully expected to see more” and promises that we will see “in-depth gameplay and get a lot more info about the game” in the months ahead.

Xbox's marketing manager, Aaron Greenberg, also tweeted out about criticism to the Inside Xbox showcase, accepting that the team “set some wrong expectations” for the show.

KitGuru Says: For an episode of Inside Xbox, last night's showing was excellent. However, a lot of people were expecting more from the ‘first look at next-gen gameplay', which is understandable. Unfortunately without E3, we may end up with a few more low-key showings like this one in the months to come.
